Day 16: Review Your Decision-Making Process
Reflect on a recent decision. Was it made thoughtfully? What could you improve in your decision-making process?
Why It’s Important:
Effective decision-making is a critical skill for leaders. Reflecting on past decisions helps you identify strengths and areas for improvement, allowing you to refine your approach for future situations. This habit encourages thoughtful, deliberate decision-making, minimizes impulsive choices, and helps align your actions with leadership values and goals.
How to Complete the Action:
Select a Recent Decision: Choose a decision you made recently, whether small or significant.
Assess the Process: Consider the following questions:
What steps did you take to reach your decision?
Did you consider all relevant information and perspectives?
Was the decision aligned with your values and goals?
Identify Areas for Improvement: Reflect on aspects of the process that could be enhanced, such as gathering more data, consulting with others, or allowing yourself more time to deliberate.
Set an Improvement Goal: If you decide under time pressure, aim to allocate more time for similar future decisions. Or, if you notice a lack of input from key stakeholders, make it a point to seek diverse perspectives next time.
Monitor Progress: Moving forward, observe how your decision-making evolves and adapt your process as needed.
