Day 15: Practice Inclusive Leadership
Engage someone who typically doesn’t speak up during meetings. Invite their input and ideas.
Why It’s Important:
Inclusive leadership creates an environment where everyone is valued and heard. Encouraging quieter team members to share their ideas boosts confidence, promotes diversity of thought, and leads to more creative and balanced decision-making. Inclusivity helps team members feel seen and respected, facilitating a collaborative and productive team culture.
How to Complete the Action:
Identify a Quiet Participant: Think of a team member who tends to hold back during meetings or group discussions.
Provide a Welcoming Space: During the next meeting, gently invite them to share their thoughts on a specific topic (e.g., “I’d love to hear your perspective on this…”).
Acknowledge Their Contributions: Show appreciation for their input during or after the meeting to reinforce that their ideas are valued.
Create Regular Opportunities: Continue engaging them in future discussions, both in meetings and one-on-one conversations, to build their comfort level.
Be Patient and Persistent: Understand that inclusivity takes time. Consistently inviting and recognizing their contributions will help them feel more confident and engaged.
